Kisses in the Queue

A marriage can survive the worst night of your life. The harder question is whether it can survive everything that came before it. When Eimear Callaghan wakes in a Cork hospital after a devastating fall, her husband Ronan is exactly where he has been for days—beside her bed, living on cold coffee, fear, and every sentence he wishes he had heard sooner. They were never short on love. They were short on sleep. Time. Patience. Help. Somewhere between children, school runs, nappies, work, bills and the relentless machinery of family life, their marriage became a list of things that needed doing—and both of them began disappearing inside it. Survival gives Eimear and Ronan another chance, but it does not give them an easy way back. Recovery means learning how to live together differently. It means uncomfortable truths, family interference, wet Cork mornings, coffees grabbed in queues, children who notice everything, and the slow discovery that lasting love is rarely built from declarations. Sometimes it is built from showing up. Tender, sharply observed and deeply romantic, Kisses in the Queue is an Irish story about marriage, parenthood, recovery and two people discovering that ordinary love can be sacred when both of them finally choose to carry it.
