Letters from the Post Office

Orla Keane came home to Emerald Harbour for a quieter life. What she got was a post office full of people who remembered everything. Back in town with her four-year-old son Rory, Orla wants something simple: steady work, a safe home and enough space to rebuild a life that belongs to her. Falling back into the orbit of Ciarán Walsh—the calm, infuriatingly dependable man she almost loved years ago—is absolutely not part of the plan. Then Orla creates Letters to Emerald Harbour. The idea is simple. Write what you cannot say aloud. A regret. A thank-you. A confession. A love that went quiet. Put it in the box and let the town breathe. But the letters begin revealing more than Orla expected. As strangers become neighbours, old wounds reopen and the post office itself comes under threat, Orla and Ciarán find themselves fighting for a place that has become far more than a counter, a queue and a collection of stamps. And somewhere between anonymous confessions, council battles, cups of tea, Rory's spectacular honesty and a town incapable of minding its own business, the almost-love Orla left behind begins to look dangerously like a future. Warm, witty and emotionally layered, Letters from the Post Office is a story about second chances, community, belonging and the extraordinary things ordinary people finally say when someone gives them somewhere safe to put the words.
