Ulf Stark è stato un grande autore contemporaneo per ragazzi, uno dei più importanti scrittori svedesi per l’infanzia e tra i più amati dai giovani lettori. Nel 1993 ha vinto il premio Astrid Lindgren e nel 1994 il prestigioso Deutsche Jugendliteraturpreis. Sai fischiare, Johanna? (Iperborea, 2018) ha vinto il premio Andersen italiano come miglior libro nella categoria 8-10 anni nel 2018. Riscoperto da pubblico e critica dopo la sua scomparsa, Ulf Stark è stato celebrato al Festivaletteratura di Mantova a settembre 2018.
