Moonstone

A mysterious stone. A magical box. A girl caught between truth and power. When fifteen-year-old Lily moves to the quiet coastal town of Seabrook, she expects sun, sand, and a fresh start—not a fearless new friend, a charming boy next door, and a strange gemstone that flips her world upside down. It all begins with a gift: a shimmering moonstone that awakens a power Lily never knew she had. As she settles in, she forms an unexpected bond with Rose, a bold and free-spirited girl, and Carter, her guarded but kind-hearted neighbor. Together, they stumble upon a magical wooden box hidden in Rose's mother's curious shop—unleashing secrets that have been buried for over a century. But something darker is brewing in Seabrook. A strange illness is spreading through town—one that doesn't kill, but keeps people just sick enough to benefit someone else's greed. As the trio digs deeper, they unravel a conspiracy laced with lies, danger, and hidden power. While facing threats from outside—and within—Lily must confront her past, the pain of leaving her home in Johannesburg, and the courage it takes to trust again. Moonstone is a lyrical coming-of-age mystery woven with magic, heart, and quiet resilience. Set in a seaside town brimming with secrets, it's perfect for readers who love Keeper of the Lost Cities, Nevermoor, and gentle magical realism. "A deeply atmospheric and emotionally rich debut. Bridges' storytelling is luminous—full of heart, mystery, and quiet magic." — Independant Review
