Readers would be mistaken to think that this is a short novel. What it lacks in length, it amply makes up for in violent intensity and extreme range of perversions. At-first, a young lieutenant is very happy and efficient officer who is sexually attracted to men only, but has never has sexual contact with them. Author Sean McFirnn creates the intense sublimated-desire of this man by the sights, sounds, and smells of so many males sweating in the desert-heat. The novel begins during Desert Storm and Gulf War I. On coming home, the youth discovers the masculine magic of BDSM. His award-winning career in the US Army and his later career as a popular university professor are each brought to an end by laws that were allegedly passed to give freedom to men who-love-men. He sees a world in which ruthless domination and social mutilations are sold as humane and pro-freedom. He leaves inherited millions behind to stage a suicide and give himself over to the bondage, torture, and death at the hands of a corrupt billionaire. The young maso is transported to the Sadist's private BDSM resort to entertain Himself and to curry favour with world political-leaders, as-well-as compromise them. The young man gives himself over to staged-scenes of constant agony, mutilation, and death. These sex-shows are staged on a small scale but with Las Vegas style and elaborate-technology. The whole showy-affair seems a microcosm for the great world beyond.
