André Aciman ha vissuto e studiato prima ad Alessandria d'Egitto, poi a Roma e infine a New York, insegnando letteratura comparata alla City University di New York e vivendo con la famiglia a Manhattan. Dal suo Chiamami col tuo nome (Guanda 2008), è stato tratto nel 2018 il fortunato film diretto da Luca Guadagnino e i cui protagonisti tornano nel romanzo del 2019, ­Cercami.
