The name you carry

THE NAME YOU CARRY He has spent his life uncovering other people’s secrets. Then one case leads him to his own. Raymond Schmid trusts facts: names, dates, records, evidence. They are solid, verifiable, and safe. But when a seemingly ordinary case begins to expose impossible connections between missing children, altered identities, buried files, and people who were never supposed to find one another, Raymond discovers something far more disturbing than a conspiracy. Someone has been rewriting lives. The deeper he digs, the more the evidence points toward a secret protected for decades, and toward powerful people willing to do whatever it takes to keep it buried. Then Raymond finds a name where no name should be. A child who vanished. A past that does not add up. And a trail that leads closer to home with every answer. Soon, the investigation is no longer about what happened to someone else. It is about who Raymond Schmid really is. Because if the records are true, everything he believes about his family may be a lie, and if they are false, someone went to extraordinary lengths to create that lie. Either way, Raymond is running out of people he can trust. And the truth waiting at the end of the investigation may not simply destroy the life he knows. It may prove that life was never his to begin with. Perfect for fans of Harlan Coben's intricate family secrets, Michael Connelly's relentless investigations, and the high stakes legal suspense of John Grisham. The Name You Carry is a tense, addictive psychological conspiracy thriller about identity, family, buried crimes, and the terrifying question at the heart of every life: How much of who you are depends on believing the people who gave you your name?
