The Other’s Name

For almost fifty years, Milan Várady has lived another man's life. He has the name. The fortune. The family. The influence. To Budapest's elite, he is the patriarch of one of Hungary's most powerful dynasties. Only a handful of people could ever expose the truth. Then his twenty-eight-year-old son dies. Ernest Várady collapses after drinking a bottle of wine at the family estate. His final words convince Milan that his death was no accident and that the secret Milan buried nearly half a century ago may finally be coming back for him. Meanwhile, Péter Farkas is searching for answers of his own. His investigation leads to a night in 1976, an explosion that changed three young men's lives, forgotten hospital records, old photographs and questions about the true identity of Milan Várady. Soon, two investigations separated by generations begin moving toward the same truth. One man wants justice. One man needs to protect the life he built. And a dead son may have discovered the secret before either of them realized it. Because when a man has spent half a century building a life under another man's name, exposing the truth doesn't simply destroy him. It could destroy everyone who carries his name. Perfect for fans of Harlan Coben’s twisting past secrets, Gillian Flynn's dark domestic suspense, and the cinematic, slow burn mystery of Ruth Ware. The Other's Name is a dark European psychological thriller of buried identities, family secrets, power, betrayal and revenge, set against the shadowed world of an influential Budapest dynasty.
