Persistence of Vision

At the Crown Electric Picture House, the screen begins showing things that have not happened yet. For cinema manager Nell Kaye, strange noises and ageing machinery are part of the job. But when Screen One starts projecting images of Nell and her colleagues several seconds ahead of reality, there is no sensible explanation. Then a woman appears on the screen who is nowhere in the auditorium. A 999 call is made before anyone places it. An earring turns up where it cannot have been lost. Thirty-five millimetre film begins recording events before they occur. As Nell, projectionist Yusuf Dane, Rosa Malik and cinema owner Martin Croft try to understand what is happening inside the Crown, one question becomes increasingly difficult to ignore: If you are shown the future, are you being warned about it... or helping to create it? With the line between evidence and prediction collapsing around them, they must decide how much they are willing to know, what they are prepared to change, and whether seeing what comes next is ever the same as understanding it. PERSISTENCE OF VISION is a complete atmospheric supernatural mystery about choice, consequence and a cinema that has begun showing tomorrow too soon.
