Planning in Wartime: A Blueprint for the Mykolaiv Masterplan

This book details the innovative co-design approaches used in creating the Mykolaiv Concept Masterplan, a landmark effort in Ukrainian post-war reconstruction. Developed during the conflict, this initiative, led by a dedicated expert team, envisions the city's future, fostering hope and a vision for a more liveable Mykolaiv. By challenging traditional masterplan methods, this book presents short, medium, and long-term scenarios. It employs analytical and design tools across demographics, urban ecosystems, accessibility, heritage preservation, stakeholder engagement, and policy design. This work demonstrates how local actors and civil society can collaboratively shape a city’s future, even amidst crisis, offering a blueprint for resilient urban planning.
