A blasting and compelling (but also somehow disturbing) book about the COVID-19, in which the author recounts many unknown (to the most) details underlying the pandemic. He shows how plans to effectively tackle the epidemic have been in place for years in the USA, also based on similar previous ones. But they enountered the government's and other institutions' resistance. Of course with hinsight everything looks clear and explainable, however the signals and the warnings were there and the task of the political leaders is to take sometimes unpopular decisions, but which are ultimately in the interest of the majority: failing in doing this create tragedies. The big open question is whether we've learned from all this and if the next time such an outbreak occurs, the politicians and the major institutions will be ready to take the right balanced decisions based on factual data and real experts' forecasts and advice.
