Profaned

Kira arrives at the Sacred Ossuarium believing she has finally escaped the suffocating judgment of Blackreach. The academy is the pinnacle of necromantic scholarship, a place where her silent communion with the dead is a rare gift. Here, she hopes to bury her past, master her craft, and carve out a future far from anyone who ever pitied her for being deaf. But the Ossuarium's vaulted halls are not the refuge she imagined. Beneath its candlelit halls and scholarly rituals lies a hidden commerce in stolen lives—an ancient, forbidden trade the Church denies even as the dead whisper its truth. And the translator assigned to her, a man infuriatingly beautiful, seems to be carrying secrets dangerous enough to spell her doom. As Kira witnesses the Church's cruelty firsthand, her ambitions collapse into ash. Drawn into a conspiracy that threads through both the living world and the realm of the dead, she must wield forbidden magic, navigate treacherous alliances, and confront a darkness older than the Ossuarium itself. To challenge such power is to risk everything: her future, her friendships, the dangerous pull of the man she should not trust—and her life. In a place built on bones and lies, the one she trusts most will be the one who breaks her most completely.
