    This is a story centered around 4 main characters broken down in 5 parts, about the greed and corruption that ruled the 1920's American Investment Banking era including the historic 1929 stock market crash and ends during the height of World War II. An excellent novel based on a powerful banking family. A story of family, friend and business relationships mainly in New York and London. The plotting, scheming and backstabbing of the captains of finance makes for compelling reading. So well written. Although a complete story, it continues in Susan Howatch's sequel novel "Sins of the Fathers" which I have just downloaded. Highly recommended. Jean
