Renjiro Tokuda, a direct descendant of the last shogun, has set in motion a centuries-old plan passed down in secret – one that seeks to restore Japan’s isolation at any cost. Behind his cries of honor lies the opening move of a violent coup. Cut off and hunted in a foreign land, Sam will stop at nothing to protect Amira and get them both out alive – even if it means unleashing an ancient defense he once swore to destroy. But when the path to escape becomes clear, Sam realizes the price – only one of them will ever leave Japan alive.
