Max Porter è uno scrittore britannico. Dopo aver conseguito un M.A. in storia dell'arte al Courtauld Institute of Art, ha lavorato in una libreria ed è stato direttore editoriale della rivista Granta. Considerato tra le voci più interessanti della letteratura contemporanea inglese, ha esordito con il romanzo Il dolore è una cosa con le piume (Guanda, 2016) con cui ha vinto il Premio Dylan Thomas.Tra gli altri titoli, Lanny (Sellerio, 2021), Shy (Sellerio, 2025), da cui è stato tratto il film Netflix con Cillian Murphy.
