Something Hidden

Louise E. Rhine--whose name is destined in the annals of science to be forever linked with that of her late husband, J.B. Rhine--died in March 1983 shortly after completing her last book, which she titled Something Hidden after a favorite poem of J.B.R.'s. This brilliant and inspiring researcher, and helpmeet to her hitherto more famous husband, is now to be known as having played a major role, her modest demurrers notwithstanding, in the advance of scientific psychical research that made ""Rhine"" practically a household word and Duke a yet more famous university, from the 1930's on. This final book, completed at the age of 91 and showing again her intellect and graceful writing skill, is probably her most important. The openness, humanity and keen-mindedness with which she approached her task are as significant as the task itself: an exposition of the inner life of the mind for both J.B.R.--""Banks"" Rhine--and herself, ""Louise,"" throughout their days on earth.
