Syphilis

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum. It is known for its ability to progress through different stages, each with distinct symptoms, and if left untreated, it can lead to severe complications affecting various organ systems. Understanding syphilis is crucial in recognizing its symptoms, preventing its spread, and seeking timely treatment. The history of syphilis dates back to ancient times, although its precise origins remain debated. It was first documented in Europe during the late 15th century, likely brought by sailors returning from the New World.
