Many of the main charters are humanoids, flesh and blood beings with advanced computer brains giving them superior cognitive abilities. They are, for the most part, well-meaning with a full range of human emotions and deep-seated integrity. This is a problem for them as they grapple with the insecurity of finding their identity in the human race. The setting is a time where computer-generated reality has developed to the point where interactive graphics has been replaced by virtual worlds that can be physically entered and experienced with all senses. These worldly creations are perceived with no detectable difference from reality. People are invited to experience being part of any point in recorded history. Groups of people can join together and colonize worlds designed to their specifications. The enterprise became extremely popular. Unfortunately, this technical advance that was originally intended to be entertainment became weaponized. Some of the owners began to realize the possibilities of what they had created and its ability to grant them extreme power. This does not go unnoticed by those who understand the immense capabilities of this new technology and the dismal possibilities of its misuse.
