Tripping Away

"Amidst the challenges of a troubled marriage, I embarked on a transformative dual-sport adventure in April 2014, discovering that the most formidable terrain lay within myself." As an inexperienced rider, I navigated the rugged landscapes between KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape, and the small towns of the Karoo on my BMW 650gs Dakar. This journey along dusty back roads and rocky mountain passes quickly became an unexpected sanctuary, with the sun and wind providing an ideal setting for reflection and renewal. This journey served not only as a master class in off-road riding but also as a continuous reminder to remain present and attentive to the lessons imparted by nature. Surrounded by spectacular landscapes, each day provided me with uninterrupted opportunities to challenge myself physically and contemplate my inner world. The purpose of this book is to inspire readers to pursue their own experiences in nature, regardless of scale. Every journey has the potential to contribute to personal growth, often occurring just beyond one's comfort zone. This book encourages readers to explore new opportunities and overcome any excuses that may hinder them from discovering their place in the world.
