Book Description Two poets. Two perspectives. One journey. One prayer language. What happens when two poets bring their separate histories, struggles, questions, faith, creativity, and prayers to the same table? Two Poets. One Journey. One Prayer Language.: Poetic Musings, Conversations & Commentary is more than a poetry collection. It is an intimate creative and devotional conversation between Sanford Shuman (Last Real Poet) and Hostess & Poetess Bethany Camille James (CP — Cassonade Poetess) about faith, humanity, healing, purpose, and the complicated journey of becoming. Their voices are intentionally different. Their experiences are their own. They do not have to sound alike to speak the same prayer language. The poems move through rest, honesty, brokenness, surrender, mystery, calling, courage, hope, faith, healing, freedom, love, purpose, struggle, forgiveness, and spiritual growth. Each theme becomes more than an idea—it becomes a conversation. Throughout the journey, ordinary objects become spiritual metaphors: a watering can, a trellis, a cracked vessel, an oil lamp, open hands, a ribbon, a mustard seed, an unlocked door, a cup, footprints, oil, a shepherd's path, and even a limp carried into sunrise. These images form a visual language alongside the poetry. The manuscript's Photo Exhibit Gallery expands that language through digital poetic artwork, transforming the poems into visual experiences of roots, golden light, broken vessels, doorways, prayer, coffee, wilderness, and renewal. Coffee also holds a special place in the story. Much of the creative process unfolded during August, National Coffee Month, and the cup gradually became a symbol of fellowship itself: two writers sitting with questions, sharing ideas, creating poetry, and allowing conversation to become part of the work. A cup holds more than coffee when people are willing to talk. The book's Central Q&A takes readers deeper into the questions behind the poetry. Instead of presenting faith as a collection of easy answers, Sanford and Bethany allow room for wrestling, reflection, disagreement, mystery, testimony, and growth. That honesty is essential to the meaning of one prayer language. Prayer language here does not mean that two people must pray, worship, write, or understand every spiritual experience identically. It represents something deeper: two distinct voices bringing what they carry before the same God. Poetry expresses. Prayer addresses. And sometimes prayerful poetry does both. The book also recognizes Sanford's connection to Life After Struggle (LAS), a grassroots podcast and community movement based in Savannah, Georgia. Its message complements one of the manuscript's deepest questions: What comes after struggle? Sometimes the answer is not a perfect ending. Sometimes it is another step. This book is for thinkers, feelers, seekers, poetry lovers, believers, questioners, survivors, and anyone learning to recognize sacred meaning inside ordinary moments. Bring your questions. Bring your scars. Bring your unfinished prayers. Bring the parts of your story still becoming. There is room at the table. Grab your coffee. Open your heart. Enter the conversation. Two Poets. One Journey. One Prayer Language. Where poetry meets purpose.
