Unsynced

In a near-future Olympic Peninsula hemmed in by rain, salt, and rotting timber, the isolated coastal enclave of Candor exists as the last blind spot on the continent: a dead zone untouched by the Consensus, the universal neural feed that edits decay, disease, and human misery into a seamless, pastel dream of corporate perfection. Outside the mountains, three hundred million synchronized citizens move through curated cities with smoothed retinas, utterly blind to the peeling paint and discarded bodies beneath their feet. In Candor, life remains brutal, raw, and true—until an ambitious local broker realizes that an unedited reality is the ultimate luxury product. When desperate city tourists flood the muddy flats on witness tours, eager to pay local guides just to hear what their own eyes refuse to see, the fragile sanctuary begins to fracture. Silas Vance builds a high-frequency lattice tower to capture the fortune, unaware that the empire funded his ambition to pave its final boundary. As an undercover continuity operative begins to question the machine she serves, a renegade commune watches its promised holy ground dissolve, and the town doctor delivers the first child whose newborn eyes already track an invisible, algorithmic sky. Gritty, atmospheric, and relentlessly tense, Unsynced is an incisive speculative thriller about the cost of commodified perception, the tragedy of enforced comfort, and the desperate fight to see the world as it truly is before the last curtain falls.
