Windfall Murder, A

This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice. A divided town. A buried secret. And a windfall worth killing for. When a controversial solar energy company rolls into Maplewood, Kansas, neighbors turn on neighbors. Promises of easy money clash with fears of losing farmland, and the once-peaceful town begins to fracture. Amelia Hartford, owner of the Maple Leaf Inn, hopes to stay out of the fight, but when her Springer-Shepherd mix, Bailey uncovers the body of a local orchard owner, Amelia can’t look away. The victim, cantankerous farmer Harold Jarvis, wasn't short on enemies. A son desperate for control of the family orchard. A silver-tongued solar salesman with a shady past. A mayor with everything to lose. When the victim's daughter turns out to be one of Amelia's closest friends and one of her own guests becomes the prime suspect, staying on the sidelines is no longer an option. With her gossipy best friend Lila at her side, Bailey’s nose for trouble leading the way, and her budding relationship with the town sheriff under strain, Amelia must dig up the truth before the wrong man is arrested… Or before Maplewood’s next windfall is another body.
