Winefred
A girl on the chalk coast of east Devon, a wreck, and a secret about her birth that the cliffs eventually give up. Baring-Gould was a parson who wrote a hundred and fifty books, collected folk songs from Devon laborers, and married a mill girl he had educated himself. This edition binds 48 plates of painting with the text, among them works by Munch, Cole and Linnell, alongside seven illustrations restored and coloured.
