Zsra Wants a Kitty

Zara Wants a Kitty Everyone else has a pet — a dog, a rabbit, a gerbil that stuffs food into its cheeks. Everyone, it seems, except Zara. When her best friend MiLin describes her cat curling up beside her every night, Zara can't stop imagining a soft, furry kitty of her own. But getting a pet means convincing Mama and Daddy — and promising, really promising, to take care of it. Zara and Mama pore over pictures of fluffy Maine Coons, tiny-legged Munchkins, and elegant Persians, until Zara falls in love with the idea of a Persian kitten just like their own Persian family. But a conversation with kind Mrs. Peterson changes everything: some cats don't have homes yet, and some of them wait a long, long time for someone to choose them. At the animal shelter, surrounded by playful, adoptable kittens, Zara notices something else — a quiet, older cat who's been waiting far longer than the rest. What happens next will surprise Zara, her parents, and readers young and old. A warm, funny, and heartfelt story about wanting, waiting, and choosing kindness, Zara Wants a Kitty gently introduces young readers to pet responsibility and the joy of animal adoption — and reminds us that sometimes the best things aren't the ones we picked out, but the ones that pick us. Part of the beloved Zara and Friends picture book series, celebrating empathy, friendship, and the everyday moments that shape how children see the world.
