Blood Sun
Blood Sun is a civic fantasy novel set in Aralos—a hill city that refuses to let prophecy or panic decide its fate. When the sky burns red, the citizens do not call for heroes. They reach for paperwork, tools, and the public habits that hold their world together. Benches that divide food fairly, ledgers that count beds honestly, door rules that quiet the city at the right hours—these are the devices that stand between order and collapse. The story unfolds in "seatings," each one installing a civic tool, arguing its rules into place, and showing how ordinary people rehearse decency until it becomes instinct. Instead of chosen ones, the novel follows builders, clerks, sweepers, and line-runners: Lysa, who refuses to call her inventions miracles; Savi Chalk, who distrusts adjectives; Kestrel, a recovering thief who now steals drama from emergencies; and Var Kiris, an imperial arrival who must learn the discipline of becoming usefully dull. Aralos faces an antagonist that does not wear armor—it renames. It turns nouns into disguises: charity for share, blessing for price, glory for muster. The city defends itself through stamps, tags, and a stubborn commitment to verbs over slogans. When danger arrives, Aralos does not rise to a chorus; it performs a checklist. Blood Sun is a novel about quiet bravery, shared rules, patient systems, and the belief that a city's true magic lies in the habits its people maintain together. It invites the reader to slow down, to listen for the click of a stamp, and to imagine a world where fairness is a practiced craft rather than a prophecy.
