The Book of Jasher is referenced 3 different times in the Bible, either directly or indirectly: “And the Sun stayed, and the Moon stood still, until the people avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher?” Joshua 10:13 “Also, he (David) told them to teach the children of Judah to shoot, as it is written in the book of Jasher:” 2Samuel 1:18 “And as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses (cf. Jasher 79:27), so also do these resist the Truth; men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.” 2Timothy 3:8 Jasher provides additional details about biblical figures such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and Paul, offering insights not found anywhere else. Despite its mentions in the Bible, the Book of Jasher was not included in the final canon of Scripture. However, similar to 1Enoch, Jasher provides unique biblical context, as it is one of only a handful of extra-biblical books to be directly referenced or quoted in Scripture.
