It is the memoir of a former Morgantown, West Virginia African American woman mayor and a former member of The West Virginia House of Delegates. As Charlene Marshall was born and raised in Osage, West Virginia, a small town in rural Monongalia County. And her eventful journey has been full of successful and momentous occasions. Wherefore, she is a substantial part of history and has accomplished several extraordinary achievements. Yet, along the way, she experienced many obstacles, difficulties, and tragedies. But, with the love and support from her family, friends, and new friendships she developed on her journey, she persevered. Thus, when she encountered numerous challenges, she never wavered. She remained focused and never allowed anyone to deter her from her path. Therefore, Charlene Marshall's life story is an inspiration for all women, African Americans, and everyone, that if you work hard enough you can achieve your goals, regardless of your background and the environment you grew up in.
