Lord B. Lawrence's novels discuss the adventures of E.W. Christie. This book in the series is about the carpet mill in Thompsonville, Connecticut where there is a suspicion of embezzlement. Christie is called in by his best friend and the owner of the Enfield Golf Course, Robert Williamson after the flood of 1955. The Thompsonville Carpet Mill, a cornerstone of the town's prosperity, teetered on the edge of ruin, its very existence threatened by the insidious actions of an unknown perpetrator. Williamson is convinced that E.W. will find the culprit and he does. This is a work of fiction. E.W. Christie was a renowned amateur detective hailing from a suburb north of London, England - Enfield, England, where his work caught the attention of Scotland Yard, and he became known as one of the most skilled detectives in the region. Born in England and educated as a surgeon, Christie moved to Suffield, Connecticut in 1945 to live near his sister Cathy and her family. There he quickly made a name for himself. With his sharp intellect and keen eye for detail, he became a sought-after detective, known for his ability to solve even the most complex of cases. Christie's reputation as a super sleuth quickly spread throughout New England, and he was soon being called in to help both the authorities and the wealthy with their most challenging investigations. Once again, he was respected for his ability to solve the most challenging cases. Despite his success, Christie remained humble and dedicated to his craft, always striving to do his best in each case. He was widely respected by both his colleagues and his clients and was known for his unwavering integrity and sense of justice. Through his work, E.W. Christie made a lasting impact on the world of detective work, and he continues to be remembered as one of the greatest amateur detectives of all time.
