Belinda Bauer, nata in Gran Bretagna, ha vissuto in Sudafrica e negli Stati Uniti, prima di stabilirsi nel Galles. Ha lavorato come giornalista e sceneggiatrice per cinema e tv. Blacklands (pubblicato in Italia da Marsilio nel 2011) è il suo primo romanzo, venduto in 22 paesi, vincitore del Gold Dagger 2010, selezionato come Exceptional Debut da Publisher’s Weekly e Bookseller, tra i 10 titoli imperdibili di tv Book Club nel 2010.Nel 2014 esce per Marsilio Negli occhi dell'assassino, secondo titolo della sua produzione. Nel 2018 vince con Snap il National Book Award nella categoria Crime/Thriller Book of the Year.
