The Great Omission

The last command Jesus gave before ascending to heaven was the Great Commission, the call for Christians to “make disciples of all the nations.” But Christians, instead of making disciples, have merely made more Christians. This, according to acclaimed author and renowned Christian thinker Dallas Willard, has been the church’s “Great Omission.” In The Great Omission, Willard argues that we cannot be Christians without being disciples, and that, if we want to call ourselves Christians, we must do our best to make life on earth more closely resemble the Kingdom of God.
