The Integrated Personality Treatment Framework: A Clinical Treatment Manual and Client Workbook for Personality Disorder Recovery The IPTF is organised into three sequential stages, each addressing a distinct level of personality dysfunction and each drawing primarily upon a different evidence-based therapeutic tradition, sequenced according to a coherent clinical rationale grounded in developmental neuroscience and attachment theory. Stage 1 — Stabilisation and Safety draws upon Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to address the neurobiological level of dysfunction: the emotional dysregulation, impulsive behaviour, and crisis-driven self-harm that constitute the most immediately dangerous manifestations of personality disorder.
