This book progresses from the mid 18th century to the end of the 20th century and discusses the lives of eight female composers, each related to a famous male composer. The aim of the book is to show whether this was an asset or not to their own musical careers and how the times in which they lived affected their freedom to follow their own talents and inclinations.
