Our Hearts Knew Better

I was seventeen, living in another new town with my controlling father, when I finally braved sneaking out of the house. It was my last chance to discover who I was before being forced into adulthood. The time to risk the consequences was now. My first night out, I met two boys who had their own reasons for wandering in the dark. Levi and Adam. Best friends. Opposite from each other and opposite in how they both affected me. Everything went right that summer. Those months were filled with adventures I could only ever experience in my imagination. I was wild and free and exploring life outside of my restraints. Everything went right. And yet so many things went wrong. . . I fell for one of the boys, and he fell for me too. But the one my heart chose didn't choose me back. Levi blindsided me and broke me in one, sending me right into Adam's arms. It's been six years since that summer, and aside from tragedy reuniting all three of us back to that town, I've been aching to call Rosalee Bay home again. My relationship with Adam has seen better days and my heart still beats for his best friend. I have to find out what really happened that summer and why he didn't fight for us.
