Permanently changed. Suddenly history had a whole new interpretation — up is down, down is up, you're left wondering if your next sneeze will kill you and if your Grandma's killed her. Every death becomes a question of what — but also who, because we know first contact was only shining a light on what already was, but they didn't. How could they? They barely had doctors, who was going to corroborate the historians? If someone keeled over right in front of them it'd be much easier, it'd make much more sense to blame who's in front of them — the G.A., because no one was cranking out a microscope. And who was going to trust a scanner brought in by the people they're doubting? It's also the G.A. that came in with enlistments and Earth's minimum quota — which because of the war was low but conveniently humans never brought it up again once our population rose. We probably argue that enrollment is voluntary and the numbers are what they are, maybe also cite how when an emergency happens people show up so what's the problem? Hm. Anyways, that's about all I have to say on that."
