Agent Rick McCoy is growing accustomed to the weird things that come with his job as partner to an immortal phoenix-turned-human. Mostly. Going undercover as a professor to investigate attacks on the college-aged princess of a clan of dragon shifters shouldn't be that hard. Even if it seems like his own partner has determined to make his job as difficult as possible. Dante Brand's deceptively youthful appearance makes going undercover as a student easy enough, but his history of defiance to the dragon king makes his position even more precarious. If harm comes to the princess, he will almost certainly suffer both professional and personal consequences. Protecting the dragoness without her knowledge becomes more difficult when the coed decides to add Dante's rebellious alter ego to her long list of romantic conquests. The stakes rise after the attacks take a deadly turn, and both Rick and Dante are injured. Can the duo survive the escalating attempts on the dragoness without losing their own lives?
