Kathleen Ferrier

1912, Higher Walton

Contralto inglese. Iniziò la carriera come insegnante di pianoforte e accompagnatrice in concerti. Dedicatasi al canto, esordì nel 1943 nel Messia di Händel e si affermò definitivamente nel 1947 a Glyndebourne nell' Orfeo di Gluck. Bruno Walter la accompagnò spesso al pianoforte nel repertorio liederistico, in cui eccelleva.
