This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice. The Sumerian civilisation originally occupied the area adjacent to the Persian Gulf, currently recognised as Iraq. The Greeks designated this area as Mesopotamia, signifying "the land between the rivers," due to the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, which originate in Anatolia, traverse Syria and Iraq, and ultimately empty into the Persian Gulf. 'Simurrum' designates the northern territory as named by the Semitic peoples, which was then used in conjunction with the term 'Sumerian,' referring to the southern region. The Sumerians referred to their territory as Kien-gi, meaning 'country of the lordly En,' named after the priest-king of Sumer (En). Shortly after 4000 BC, the Sumerians migrated to this coastal region, although their origin remains ambiguous. There exists no correlation between their language and any other language utilised in the region. Following their navigation upriver from the Persian Gulf, they relocated from the coastal region to the interior.
