In the twelfth month of 1915, the Songliao Plain in Northeast China was blanketed in endless snow. The chill wind whipped up flakes of snow, like countless icy needles, piercing Wang Guan'er's wolfskin coat. The bronze key left by his grandfather burned in his arms. It was the token to the Five Immortals Cave—the Fox Fairy for setting bones, the Yellow Fairy for removing poison, the White Fairy for healing wounds, the Willow Fairy for soothing souls, and the Gray Fairy for exorcising evil spirits. The legend of the Five Immortals, incarnated to protect this land, now weighed heavily on his shoulders, along with an impending plague. When the Taoist priest calling himself "One Tongtian" burst in through the window with a green light, and when the black blood his grandfather vomited formed a fox-shaped talisman on the snow, Wang Guan'er knew he could not escape the calamity surrounding the Five Immortals Seal.
