Broken Homes: The Perils of Percy Pelosi
Now eighteen Percy Pelosi has some serious choices to make about his future career. Under the direction of girlfriend, Penny, who works at a children’s home, Percy reluctantly volunteers to help nine-year-old Ross to build a buggy. Unfortunately his forgetting to fit any brakes results in comic, but also disastrous, consequences which causes Ross to be moved away. Nevertheless, the superintendent of the home naively believes Percy is a play therapist and offers him a job for the summer holidays in that role. Alongside his work at the children’s home, Percy finds himself being asked to help trace another female acquaintance’s mother who once worked at the home. His bungling charm enables him to also bluff his way through this role, until yet another disaster appears to have this time really ended his career before it has even started. After trying a brief ramshackle job at an airport, Percy finding himself without any prospects, moves to Italy to work in the family restaurant. After three years there he returns and meets up with some of these children again to find out what has happened to them during this time.
