Freeze Frame

The New York Times bestselling master of suspense returns to his beloved Colter Shaw series, adapted for TV (CBS's Tracker, starring Justin Hartley), as reward seeker Shaw races against the clock to search for a small town's beloved officer. Officer Tara Quayle has gone missing. The only clue as to what happened? An abandoned police car in the middle of the deep woods near Knox Crossing, Vermont. Though the police department has conducted a thorough search, resources are limited, due to a breathtaking cold spell and an impending once-in-a-decade winter storm. And time is running out; it would be nearly impossible for anyone to survive very long in the extreme weather. Desperate to bring their colleague home alive, Quayle’s fellow officers enlist the help of reward seeker Colter Shaw. But as Shaw digs down into Quayle’s recent whereabouts and her police department investigations, he learns of the town’s dark history. There’s more to Knox Crossing than meets the eye, and the same can be said for its inhabitants. But when Shaw finds himself a target of a harrowing shoot-out, the puzzle pieces begin to click. What if the policewoman’s disappearance wasn’t an accident? What if Quayle herself does not want to be found? Whatever the case may be, Shaw must act fast, as he finds that his life and Quayle’s are not the only ones in jeopardy.
