GETTING LONNIE is a story about 2 college freshman roommates in 1986. Lonnie is a thick-thighed handsome lacrosse student, and while he's on an athletic scholarship, he's having trouble with his studies. He's the first in his family to go to college, so staying in school is not only important for his self-esteem, but for his family's pride as well. If he loses his scholarship, he's out on his butt. His roommate, an art student named Aaron, secretly lusts after Lonnie, but doesn't dare make a move. When Lonnie offers to pose nude for Aaron's art sketches in exchange for help with his studies, one thing leads to another. When word gets around campus that Aaron will help write term papers in exchange for certain "favors," Aaron is hurt that Lonnie has been sharing their secret. Hurt turns to anger as a special new world opens up for Aaron, but he only wants to share this new world with Lonnie, who still seems emotionally out of reach—until Aaron discovers the truth about the rumors.
