Git Internals
A branch vanishes after a reset. A rebase drops a commit nobody notices until Friday. A stash is gone, or a force-push overwrites a colleague's work. This book shows how a repository really works, so you can fix these problems calmly instead of guessing. You build commits by hand from blobs, trees and refs, then see how reset, rebase, cherry-pick and bisect are small operations on that model. You learn how the reflog, packfiles and garbage collection decide how long a mistake stays reversible, how to find dangling commits, stashes and staged files, and how to recover from a bad force-push. Every command was run on a throwaway repository, and a final scenario ties it together.
