David Abulafia

1949, Twickenham

Docente di Storia del Mediterraneo all'Università di Cambridge, e membro del Gonville and Caius College, della British Academy e dell'Academia Europaea. Per i meriti acquisiti con i suoi studi sulla storia italiana e mediterranea, nel 2003 è stato insignito del titolo di Commendatore dell'Ordine della Stella della Solidarietà Italiana. Tra i suoi libri in edizione italiana, ricordiamo: Federico II. Un imperatore medievale (1990), I regni del Mediterraneo occidentale dal 1200 al 1500 (1999) e La scoperta dell'umanità. Incontri atlantici nell'età di Colombo (2010). Nel 2013 esce il monumentale Il grande mare. Storia del Mediterraneo.
