The Last Allocation

Earth is lost. The people who own the last ship still expect to be obeyed. When a supervolcano devastates Earth, humanity's last hundred thousand survivors leave aboard The Seeker, a generation ship built by a powerful church. Proxima b is their Promised Land. Reaching it will take at least seventy-five thousand years. Eliam Measure will never see that world. His children will never see it. What he can give them is a home. As a district allocation planner, Eliam knows how to keep scarce rooms, tools, and working hours moving. He also knows which families wait longest, which doors stay closed, and whose comfort is protected by faith. A modest effort to help an exhausted worker draws him into compromises that follow him home. Over thirty years, Eliam and his wife, Mara, raise a son who finds security in the hierarchy and a daughter whose curiosity refuses easy answers. They endure sleepless nights, bad jokes, crowded rooms, and promises that become harder to keep. Then Eliam sees a way to ease another household's burden. It begins with the rooms his own family loves. And he starts making plans before telling Mara. To pursue the change, he must face the people who rule the ship and the woman whose trust he has put at risk. The Last Allocation opens The Seeker Inheritance with a complete family story aboard a vessel where every generation inherits someone else's decisions.
