Fondendo il folk-rock jangle con raffinate armonie vocali e sperimentazioni psichedeliche, il gruppo di Los Angeles The Peanut Butter Conspiracy ha forgiato un sound e un'identità distintivi in tre album e numerosi 45 giri tra il 1966 e il 1970. Caratterizzato da ricchi arrangiamenti vocali e da un accompagnamento strumentale innovativo, il sound dei Peanut Butter ha catturato lo spirito dell'epoca. Coprendo tutto il materiale realizzato sotto il nome PBC, The Most Up Till Now è stato assemblato dagli appassionati Alec Palao e Gray Newell in collaborazione con Alan Brackett, che ha concesso un accesso senza precedenti al suo archivio personale. Oltre alla serie completa delle pubblicazioni ufficiali della band per Columbia, Challenge e Vault, il cofanetto contiene anche molte delle registrazioni delle colonne sonore a cui i tre cantanti hanno partecipato su richiesta del produttore Stu Phillips. Questi brani sono integrati da una serie entusiasmante di demo, outtakes, versioni alternative, registrazioni casalinghe e una performance live inedita del 1967 che dimostra come i PBC fossero in grado di riprodurre efficacemente il loro caratteristico mix vocale/strumentale sia dal vivo che in studio.
