Julian Alexander Fellowes è nato nel 1949 a Il Cairo. Ha scritto le sceneggiature di Downton Abbey (2010), per la quale ha vinto un Emmy Award, Gosford Park (2001) e The Tourist (2010), e ha vinto l'Oscar per quella del film Gosford Park, per la regia di Robert Altman. È anche uno dei più famosi attori britannici: ha recitato come coprotagonista con Jeremy Irons di Il danno, al fianco di Pierce Brosnan in 007-Il domani non muore mai e di Anthony Hopkins in Viaggio in Inghilterra. Vive in Inghilterra con la moglie Emma e il figlio Peregrine. Tra i suoi romanzi si citano: Snob (2005), Un passato imperfetto (2009), Belgravia (2016).

Walter Lord, laureato in legge a Yale, ha militato durante la seconda guerra mondiale nei servizi segreti americani. Autore di diversi libri di argomento storico, con Garzanti ha pubblicato Titanic. La vera storia (1955-2012), Le due ore di Pearl Harbor (1957) e L'incredibile vittoria (1967).
