Simon Mawer è nato in Inghilterra. Ha vissuto a lungo a Cipro e a Malta. Ora vive in Italia con la moglie e i due figli. È autore di altri sei romanzi, tra i quali Mendel’s Dwarf, che ha concorso per il Booker Prize e The Fall, che ha vinto il Boardman Tasker Prize.
