Python Type Hints
Large Python projects slow down when nobody can say what a function accepts, what it returns, or whether a value may be None. This book shows how to fix that with annotations a checker can verify. You will annotate functions and data, handle None with narrowing, write generics in the modern and the older syntax, describe interfaces with protocols, shape records with TypedDict and dataclasses, and use overloads and override checks to keep signatures honest. One chapter takes an unchecked legacy codebase through a gradual, module by module migration, and another sets up configuration and continuous integration for a team. Every example was run on Python 3.14 with mypy, and the runtime chapter explains what annotations do not enforce, including deferred evaluation in 3.14.
