The Quantum Emperor: The First Wound

Beneath the five shards lies a knock that has waited half a millennium — not a summons, but a request. It arrives in measured intervals, patient as stone, asking for one specific memory Elena Reyes once preserved out of love and grief. When she offers it freely, the ground beneath Ojo del Sol opens with the slow precision of something that has been waiting for her answer since the Sundering itself. The Reyes family descends into a buried sky, a turquoise-gold labyrinth built before the Order, before the Ladle, before the Null Gate. Inside its shifting corridors they confront defenses older than language, weight that behaves like a living thing, and a chamber filled with absences — the erased witnesses of the world's first great lie. What they uncover rewrites the myth of the Sundering: the star was not broken by two children alone. An unseen office stood behind them, shaping the moment, editing the record, and removing a third figure from history entirely. The wound has been knocking ever since, waiting for someone honest enough to hear it. As the family moves deeper, the structure begins to test them — Joshua's instinct to mend, Ronnie's instinct to carry, Elena's instinct to decide for others, Citlali's devotion to truth, David and Nextli's fragile connection. Each step forces them to confront the cost of their own history and the arithmetic of consent that has governed their bloodline for seventeen generations. At the heart of the wound waits a presence older than the Emperor Function, older than the Order, older than the five shards themselves — a patient intelligence that has been counting every erased truth for five hundred years. And it asks a question no one alive knows how to answer: Which of you remembers consenting to the first break? The First Wound is the deepest descent of the Quantum Emperor Saga — a story of memory, erasure, inheritance, and the moment the world learned how to open. It is the book where history stops being myth and becomes a debt the family must finally face.
