My Reading and Writing Kit: More sounds and blending has been specially developed to improve the ability of your developing reader by introducing first blending skills. Based on Ruth Miskin's trusted and successful Read Write Inc. synthetic phonics programme, the kit also provides handwriting practise to ensure your child can progress as a writer as they gain confidence in reading. This is the second kit in the series, but each kit can also be used on its own. The kit includes: two Blending Sounds books, focussing on first blending skills as a first step in learning to read words; five storybooks with introductions for the parent and child to share; handwriting book linked to the content of the Blending Sounds books, encouraging children to practise writing simple words; poster and sticker sheet for the child to keep and stick on their bedroom wall as a record of achievement; parent handbook provides practical advice for developing your child's reading skills. It is used by more than a quarter of the UK's primary schools and is designed to create fluent readers, confident speakers and willing writers.
